- Analyze the plans and specifications to gain an overall understanding of the project.
- Develop a preliminary work schedule, including the necessary resources for the site.
- List the specialties, materials, subcontractors, and suppliers likely to contribute to the success of your estimate.
- Prepare site installation plans.
- Create single-line diagrams for these installations.
- Develop load tables for the equipment.
- Estimate the electrical consumption costs of the installations.
- Request pricing for materials.
- Analyze the project in detail to anticipate construction methods involving indirect costs.
- Build the study in the estimating software, integrating subcontracted tasks, in-house work, teams, work rates and ratios, quantities to be completed, etc.
- Conduct a full analysis and select pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Review received bids and request additional ones if needed to ensure the best market prices.
- Negotiate and place purchase orders for site-specific materials.
- Maintain necessary communication with various stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the project manager and superintendents for the mobilization of the work team and required materials for temporary installations.
- Actively participate in bid meetings.
- Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in electrical engineering or possess equivalent experience.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in estimating and/or project execution.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: building construction, electricity, piping, building and process mechanics.
