
Bus Safety Coordinator

- Facilitates and completes incident investigations reports; coordinates with management to develop safety goals, objectives, safety initiatives and actions plans
- Coordinates the continual development of safety initiatives with applicable internal/external resources.
- Assist SSOs with safety inspections and risk assessments facilitations, completes initial draft of findings and outcomes
- Supports the implementation and rollout of safety programs and initiatives, provides input as required to assist in the successful execution
- Provides logistical supports and coordination for in person events (e.g. H&S booths), generate safety handouts, assist with briefings, etc.
- Supports the manager in bus safety operations, providing essential backup and assistance as needed; liaise with internal and external stakeholders in relation to bus safety programs and initiatives.
- Contributes to internal reports and proofreads business reports (e.g., business performance report, memos, assessments, bulletins, etc.).
- Fosters relationships and partnerships with management to support continual improvement in safety governance and safety practices.
- Prepares purchase orders and obtains information on applicable costs, reviews invoices for accuracy and processes payments. Monitors adherence to established purchasing guidelines (PO's under 10K, PCards, etc.).
- Reviews complex documents (e.g., third party reports/assessments, internal business performance reports) by:
- Reviewing and evaluating studies, reports, proposals, contract documents.
- Editing documents.
- Researching and participating in the development of safety campaigns to promote workplace safety.
- Summarizing results and presenting findings to team (team meetings, small presentations etc.
- Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Health and Safety or a relevant field - or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrated years' experience providing safety support including in-field operational support, including co-op placements.
- Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification is an asset. Valid G Driver's License is required.
- Interpersonal, public relations, and oral/written/presentation communication skills to represent Metrolinx with a range of internal and external stakeholders, partners, and contractors, and to prepare assessments, reports, briefing documents, and policy/procedure recommendations
- Highway Traffic Act, Railway Safety Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act)
- Ability to assess, prioritize, and respond to manage emergency situations
- Knowledge of transit operations, property management, and facility operations to contribute to the identification and mitigation of potential safety risks and disruptions to operations.
- Experience with computer applications [e.g., MS Booking, MS Teams, SharePoint, MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), databases, other application software].
- May be required to work evenings and/or weekends on a call-in during emergencies and to support incident investigations
- Travel is required to all Bus Services facilities and offices within the GO network
