- Collecting and preparing environmental samples from ground and surface waters, and biota.
- Analyzing and reporting environmental samples for non-radiological and some radiological parameters.
- Acting as a subject matter expert in non-radiological monitoring while providing oversight to others in the laboratory.
- Responding to queries for non-radiological monitoring for the branch.
- Contributing to the efficiency and maximization of the Environmental Monitoring Branch output.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
- Education
- Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology, or equivalent formal education, in a field relevant to the position (e.g. Chemistry, Environmental Technology) and pertinent technological experience OR Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent and pertinent and progressive experience, additional education and/or training.
- Experience
- Experienced working in a laboratory environment involving chemical preparations and analyses using established procedures.
- Experience with specialized analytical equipment and techniques for environmental chemical applications.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with a strong attention to fine details.
- Proficient in wet chemistry, solution preparation and instrument calibration and use.
- Skilled in laboratory information management system usage and maintenance.
- Diligent in maintaining lab supplies and practiced in addressing supplier issues.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
- Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
- This position is part of the USW 1568 union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the USW 1568 Collective Agreement.
