We have purposely built our company to allow our professionals to do what they do best – top notch technical work.Position Overview:We are currently recruiting for a Geoscientist in Training for our geosciences group in Salmon Arm. The successful candidate will be involved in terrain stability assessments, landslide hazard assessments, flood hazard assessments and may assist our geotechnical group with geotechnical investigations. Occasional projects involving post wildfire assessments, terrain mapping and hydrological assessments are also a possibility. Experience in terrain assessments, mapping, road construction, and field work in rugged environments would be an asset. Successful applicants will participate in the provision of geoscience services from proposal stage through planning, fieldwork, and commissioning of projects.Major Job Functions:
  • Field assessments pertaining to the work described above;
  • Completion of reporting associated with the various assessments as listed above including coordinating and/or preparing maps, drawings, and figures
  • Use of computer software such as QGIS and ArcMap, for creation of maps; prior experience an asset
Specific Skills and Knowledge:
  • Comfortable with outdoor work and occasional travel
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to work on numerous projects
  • Willingness to learn and work under limited supervision
  • Strong technical writing capabilities
  • Flexibility, organizational, and time management skills
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geoscience, Geology, Geological Engineering, or similar field
  • Registered or eligible to be registered as a Geoscientist in Training with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC)
Salary:
$60,000-$90,000 annually commensurate on experience, full-time permanent position. The lower portion of the range reflects entry-level Geoscientist in Training responsibilities. The upper portion of the range applies to candidates demonstrating increased experience, expanded responsibilities, or progression towards an experienced Geoscientist in TrainingBenefits Summary:
