- Independently design and develop transformers and related components, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, CSA) and customer specifications.
- Conduct engineering analyses to optimize product performance, cost, and efficiency.
- Perform detailed failure analysis on design-related issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain, sales, and customer service to ensure successful integration of designs into production.
- Participate in design reviews to provide technical input and ensure that designs meet project and customer requirements.
- Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
- Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure product designs remain competitive and compliant.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, promoting innovation and efficiency in the design process.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance as needed, though leadership is not a primary focus of this role.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- More than 5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on transformer or related product design.
- Proficiency with design and analysis tools, including mechanical and thermal analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, FEA).
- Ability to interact with, maintain, and update ERP system data related to engineering processes.
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, CSA) and regulatory requirements (e.g. DOE) for transformers and related components.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working in cross-functional teams.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Experience conducting failure analysis and implementing corrective actions for design-related issues.
