Job Description:We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in Toronto, Ontario. In this long-term contract position, you will play a key role in managing billing processes, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and journal entries. This opportunity is ideal for individuals with advanced Excel skills, early-stage accounting designation pursuits, and 1-2 years of related experience.Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and process manual invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client requirements.
  • Reconcile balance sheets and accounts receivable to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Post journal entries and verify supporting documentation for all financial transactions.
  • Generate and review invoice backups for payroll and monthly expense reporting.
  • Manage incoming payments, process employee expense reports, and ensure proper documentation in accounting systems.
  • Create monthly reports on accounts receivable aging, delinquent accounts, and contingent liabilities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to verify commission structures and confirm terms are up to date.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including occasional overtime as required.
  • Input financial data into ERP systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all records.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with collection agencies and credit insurance providers.
Requirements:
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions and data manipulation.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with billing, accounts receivable, and journal entries, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as PeopleSoft or similar ERP systems is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle manual invoice processing and prepare financial backups for reporting purposes.
  • Currently pursuing or holding an early-stage accounting designation (e.g., CPA) is considered an advantage.
