Intermediate Environmental Professional - Scientist or Engineer

• Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the design of engineering solutions; design the feasibility testing approach and supervise its implementation to support the development and validation of engineering solutions.

• Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace. Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating serious issues as appropriate.

• Waste Management: Lead waste projects or supervise area of the organization, ensuring adherence to regulations and effective reduction, segregation, and disposal of waste. Coordinate and execute field activities, including sampling of groundwater, soil, soil vapour, sediment, and surface water.

• Technical Troubleshooting: Support technical troubleshooting efforts, aiding in the quick and accurate identification, analysis, and resolution of technical issues with equipment and experiments.

• Technical Developments Recommendation: Research and suggest technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users' needs. Prepare high-quality technical reports and proposals for submission to provincial and federal regulatory authorities.

• Engineering Drawings: Create engineering drawings to support the communication, evaluation, and implementation of engineering solutions.

• Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently. Conduct comprehensive Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) from Phase I through Phase IV.

• Project Management: Manage project tasks from start to finish, including subcontractor procurement, fieldwork oversight, and participation in risk assessment and remedial design.

• Research: Carry out a range of research activities either to support others or to fulfill the requirements of the role.

• Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

• Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems.

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science or Engineering. A P.Eng. or P.Geo. designation is considered a strong asset.
• A least 5 years of hands-on experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and remediation projects.
• Solid knowledge of both Provincial and Federal environmental regulations and guidelines.
• Familiarity with the Federal Contaminated Sites Action Plan (FCSAP) or similar federal frameworks is a significant advantage.
• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment-juggling multiple projects, meeting tight deadlines, and traveling to client sites as needed.
• Exceptional communication and technical writing skills.
• Bilingualism is considered an asset.
• A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
• Flexibility to work variable hours and travel to project sites across Atlantic Canada and occasionally beyond.
