After an introduction to various measures of health and disease, the scientific methods used to investigate, analyze, prevent and control health problems will be illustrated using social, biomedical and public health examples.Estimated course enrolment: 80 studentsEstimated TA support: 160 hours (to be confirmed)Class schedule: Lectures on Tuesdays 9:00am - 11:00am (in-person)Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2026 - April 30, 2026Salary (0.25FCE):Sessional Lecturer I: $4,910.35.Sessional Lecturer I (Long-Term): $5,255.02.Sessional Lecturer II: $5,255.02.Sessional Lecturer II (Long-Term): $5,380.14.Sessional Lecturer III: $5,380.14.Sessional Lecturer III (Long-Term): $5,515.18.All inclusive of vacation pay;*Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.Minimum Qualifications: Candidates should have a completed Ph.D. (or equivalent) with a scholarly background and recent experience in areas related to the course and recent experience in undergraduate teaching.Description of duties:
- Co-preparing of course syllabus and course marking scheme
- Co-planning and teaching weekly lectures and seminars
- Co-providing office hours for academic counselling of students
- Co-setting and marking assignments/exams
- Co-administrating course in accordance with University regulations as described in the Faculty of Arts & Science Academic Handbook for Instructors
- Co-supervising TAs
