- Manage the day-to-day oversight of maintenance and repair activities surrounding the MoW functions ensuring compliance with all federal, state and other applicable railroad safety and operational regulations
- May perform track, structure and maintenance alongside the crew
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient and organized operations of the railroad
- Manage and ensure department meets its track, signal, and capital projects service goals
- Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
- Supervise hourly employees and supervisors in the MoW Department
- Hire new employees to fill vacancies; train all employees in operating practices according to federal regulations and company policies; and administer discipline as needed
- Manage and monitor all maintenance and other related costs associated with the Department
- Conduct efficiency and operating tests according to company practices
- Conduct incident investigations (derailments, personal injury, etc.) and prepare associated reports
- Manage projects and perform other duties as assigned
- Full-time (40 plus hours weekly)
- Varying schedule in a 24/7 work environment that includes nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call as needed
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Walking on uneven surfaces and climbing ladders and equipment always ensuring three points of contact
- Able to squat, bend and lift overhead with extended periods of kneeling or crouching (bending at the knees)
- Frequent lifting of equipment and tools up to 76 pounds
- Demonstrated ability to self-motivate; prioritize; promote safe work habits; and manage budgetary constraints
- 5+ years’ related experience in the rail industry is a plus
- Prior experience in a supervisory role
- Able to complete written forms and reports as required
- Able to read and interpret documents including safety rules, manuals, and regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, applications, reporting, etc.)
- Possess situational awareness and decision-making abilities to respond effectively in a safety sensitive environment
- Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of high school diploma / GED and experience
- RWP and 213.7 qualified
- Valid driver’s license required
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a plus or able to obtain one if required
- At least 18 years of age
- Pre-employment physical, hearing, and vision medical review
- Subject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing including pre-employment drug screening
- Background screening including criminal and motor vehicle driving history
