Guided by our values of safety in every step, personal accountability, one team and active learning, we deliver the critical energy that North America and the world rely on while balancing reliability, affordability and sustainability.The OpportunityOur North Bay Area Operations Group is currently seeking a skilled Electrical Instrumentation & Controls (EIC) Technician to join our team based in Tarzwell, ON.Reporting to the North Bay Operations Area Manager, this EIC Controls Technician will operate and maintain natural gas compression and auxiliary equipment (including assigned electronic, electrical, pneumatic and/or mechanical control systems, devices, and ancillary equipment gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, boilers, fuel gas compressors, and PLC & DCS control systems) in a manner which meets operational needs in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. In this role, you will also be required to perform tasks from other disciplines.The regular work schedule for this position will be:

Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; Friday off
Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; 8 hours on Friday

What you’ll do

Perform installation, testing, repair, and maintenance on compressor station equipment, and other facilities relevant to the pipeline system as required
Conduct routine regular maintenance on gas turbine packages, gas compressor units and associated auxiliary equipment
Troubleshoot, test, & maintain shutdown devices, fire & gas systems, auxiliary systems, HVAC systems, relief and Over Pressure Protection devices, control valves, PLC’s & control systems
Install & configure software in control systems
Perform emergency repairs to meet customer and client needs
Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TC Energy's Community, Safety and Environment policies and procedures as well as accepted risk standards
Lead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low to medium complexity projects with effective work management practices such as time management, work sequencing, and contractor oversight
Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, P&IDs, etc.
Complete job quality assurance documents (JQA’s) and work authorization/job safety analysis (JSA’s) along with other electronic documentation
Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc. in SAP
Complete core operational task qualifications required to perform job tasks
Supervise and coordinate third party contractors
Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to other personnel
Demonstrate safety leadership
Collaborate and support our business partners as required
Respond to emergency situations

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of third year of trades program, or, two years of technical training from a recognized institution (i.e. Electrical, Instrumentation, etc.)
5-7 years experience troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, repairing, and operating mechanical equipment such as compressors, auxiliary engines, cooling equipment, valves, pumps, fittings, scrubbers, filters, electric motors, etc.
Experience interpreting technical reference documents and reading drawings
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must have a proven safe driving record and provide documentation of past traffic violations upon request, as well as maintain a valid driver's license.
Proven excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills

Preferred Qualifications

Journeyman certification (Electrical or Instrumentation)
SAP experience
Previous experience with high pressure natural gas
Current with technological advances in the compression field

This position requires candidates to:

Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract for review
Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home (estimated up 15% of work schedule)
Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required
