- Process end to end non-occupational claims and accommodations that are temporary or permanent. Activities include related administration, decision-making facilitation, and record retention with internal and external partners (i.e. Human Resources departments and i.e. Insurance Carriers / Third Party Providers)
- Develops appropriate medically-supported workplace accommodations for Associates with illness/injury, mental health, and or other disabilities within their own occupational or any occupation across the company. Implements work plans / agreements to ensure both a safe and sustainable return to work for Associates and cost effective disability management practices on behalf of the business. In developing work plans, apply an understanding TJX Canada’s cross-functional physical/cognitive demands profiles, off-price business needs, TJX Canada policies, ergonomic principles, and relevant legislation
- Demonstrates ability to effectively manage competing expectations, competing priorities and resistance, including accommodations that intersect both occupational and non-occupational injuries/illnesses
- Provides direction to, seeks counsel from, and works with, other Associates and benefits / third party vendors in the development, negotiation implementation of disability / case management plans and agreements
- Acts as "go-to" person by providing guidance and counsel to team members, ensures appropriate follow up, research, recommendations, and / or escalation for complex claims / accommodations, including Associates seeking accommodation through the talent acquisition process and the full employment life cycle, and Associates seeking remedy through Open Door process or legal action
- Accurately maintain and update in a timely manner the systems database and record retention for all related claims, in accordance with Company reporting needs and legislative governance, especially for potential hearings and legal action
- Minimum five (5) years claims-related work experience, with solid understanding of return to work process; preferably within retail and/or distribution/warehouse environment (i.e. Distribution Centre)
- Experienced with workers compensation, human rights legislation and short and long term disability practices
- Must have a valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle in order to attend off-site meetings and mediations
- Excellent written, verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills; English/French bilingualism is a requirement
