Impala Canada actively partners with local organizations, programs and events focused on healthcare, education and community development to help enhance the quality of life for all.Job Description:Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing metallurgical support to mill operations. The schedule for this position will consist of twelve (12) hour shifts, on a fourteen (14) days in and fourteen (14) days off rotation.Promote Health and Safety in the workplace; and be in compliance with required LDI front line supervisors safety roles and responsibilities, policies and regulations
Identify and promote continuous plant improvement in order to achieve and surpass metallurgical KPIs
Conduct and report bench scale test work such as flotation, grindability, reagent purity, reagent concentration and flocculent settling test
Coordinate plant trials
Provide day to day technical metallurgical support to mill operations
Manage the performance of the flotation circuit
Monitor and evaluate metallurgical performance; and when required, conduct survey programs to improve mill throughput, recovery and costs
Prepare daily metallurgical balances, required operational reports and guidelines for operators
Supervise and mentor plant metallurgists and metallurgical technicians
Develop, review and implement lab and mill operating procedures
Collaborate effectively with cross shift to ensure smooth transition between rotations in order to provide continuous operational supportQualifications:University degree in Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering from an accredited program;
3 to 5 years' process plant operations experience in base or precious metals specializing in mineral processing;
Understanding and experience in process control and continuous improvement would be an asset;
Solid technical and analytical skills combined with sound practical judgement;
Excellent interpersonal, communication and coaching skills with the ability to lead a team; and work effectively with cross shift and other departments;
Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (written and oral).
A strong background in Flotation would be an asset
Experience with Pi-vision would be an asset
