Commercial Building Operator - Permanent - 18278About the OpportunityOur client is seeking a dependable and experienced Building Operator to join their growing team in downtown Ottawa. This is a permanent, full-time role responsible for the daily operations, maintenance, and tenant support of a portfolio of commercial buildings. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge of building systems, takes pride in high service standards, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Oversee day-to-day building operations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and security systems
  • Conduct regular property inspections and address maintenance issues promptly
  • Coordinate and supervise service providers and contractors across multiple sites
  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs
  • Support planning and execution of capital projects
  • Maintain accurate operational and maintenance records
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies as required
  • Conduct scheduled fire system testing and ensure compliance with health & safety regulations
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and provide recommendations for procurement
  • Oversee tenant construction and base building modifications, ensuring access and compliance
About YouThe successful candidate will have the following:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in commercial building operations and maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for tenant and contractor coordination
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a mobile team
  • Valid G Class Driver's License
  • Must be eligible to obtain (or already hold) Reliability level security clearance
  • Post-secondary education or trade certification in a related field is considered an asset
About the JobThe position is offering an annual salary of $67,500 - $70,000 dependent on experience, along with a competitive benefits package and perks.
