Nakiska is looking for some Mountain Crew to work along side of our Ski Patrol Team.Job Description:Ski Patrol - Mountain CrewUnder the direction of the Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader as a Mountain crew member your responsibilities are maintaining the safety b-netting those lines many of the runs used for alpine ski racing. Also help to monitor and maintain all other safety measures, such as signs and smaller netting. Mountain crew members can aid our avalanche crew in certain mitigation work when needed including closing trails and ski cutting. Once toboggan trained, you will be able to respond to accidents as a second responder and transport patients to the patrol hut for further care when necessary. If you are interested in ski patrol, but do not have the necessary qualifications to apply, we use Mountain Crew as a gateway for becoming a patroller the next season.Primary Responsibilities· Maintaining safety netting for accident prevention, as well as any signage and smaller netting in place around the mountain.· Ability to respond to any medical emergencies both on the mountain and premise as a second responder, as well as lift related emergencies.· Provide necessary communication to all relevant parties during emergencies.· Monitor terrain conditions for skiing safety and racing potential and advise the patrol.· Working under the supervision of the avalanche team and Patrol Leader, helping with any mitigation work in avalanche terrain.· Ensuring all guests and staff adhere to the RCR/Nakiska safety guidelines and procedures while on the mountain.Qualifications· Intermediate to advanced skiing ability in all levels of terrain, included black diamond steepness.· Must have good physical fitness.· Able to work effectively, safely, and independently without direct supervision.· Able to work in extreme winter weather conditions for extended periods of time.· Ability to communicate effectively and multitask under pressure.· Exceptional personal work ethic and professional pride in your workplace.· Avalanche Skills Training 1 (AST 1) certificate is not required but will be required before any participation in avalanche mitigation work can occur (This course may be available through ski patrol, please inquire at time of application).· Any previous experience in any safety or related outdoor role is considered an asset.· Any other certificates, such as ropes training, rescue training etc., are considered an asset.· Any familiarity with Nakiska Ski Resort is considered an asset.We offer:· A season's pass for the resort.· Amazing reciprocals· Discounts on food, retail, rentals, and hotels.· Pro-deals.· Staff shuttles from Calgary & Canmore available· Staff events - meet great people who share a passion for the mountain lifestyle!
