
Maintenance Technologist

- Must have valid and current identification (i.e.: driver’s license, passport, birth certificate)
- Must be able to provide a residential address and employment history of the past 5 years
- If applicable, living outside of Canada during the past five years will require an international criminal name check
- Perform preventative, corrective, and diagnostic maintenance. Respond to basic emergency maintenance requests and breakdowns and assist in developing and implementing contingency plans to address potential equipment failures.
- Read and interpret schematics and drawings. Assist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules for equipment and machinery and conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance tasks to ensure equipment is in good working condition
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs to optimize production processes and equipment functionality. Diagnose and resolve issues related to PLCs and control systems to minimize production downtime.
- Integrate PLCs with other automation systems and equipment to ensure seamless operation and communication. Design and implement control systems using PLCs to enhance production efficiency and reliability.
- Perform software updates and backups for PLCs and related control systems to maintain system integrity. Create and maintain documentation for PLC programs, system configurations, and changes.
- Conduct testing and validation of PLC programs and control systems to ensure proper functionality and performance. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to PLC programs to enhance productivity.
- Work closely with engineering, maintenance and production teams to support automation needs and resolve technical challenges. Assist in the installation and setup of new equipment and machinery and support the implementation of upgrades and modifications to existing equipment
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders and equipment history and assist in preparing maintenance reports and documentation as required. Follow safety regulations and company policies during all maintenance activities and participate in safety training and adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment
- Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to address maintenance-related issues and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure alignment on maintenance tasks and priorities
- Identify and suggest opportunities for process improvements in maintenance operations and participate in continuous improvement initiatives and projects to enhance overall plant performance. Assist in managing spare parts inventory to ensure availability of critical components
- Completion of Technologist or Technician diploma (completed and verified prior to start)
- 309A/433A/442A certification
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics, automation technology, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of manufacturing experience in a technical support role, particularly with PLC programming, electrical and control systems.
- 1 year of electro mechanics, pneumatics, and hydraulics experience
- Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with little supervision in a team-oriented environment
