The Recreation Department promotes and contributes to a healthy community and enhances the quality of life for Penticton residents and visitors through planning, management and delivery of recreation, sport events and active living opportunities. This department partners with volunteers, community members and private sector providers to support recreation opportunities in the City.Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator - Sport Facilities, the Skate Patrol Team Lead is responsible for providing excellent customer service while supporting Skate Patrol/Cashier staff during public skating programs at McLaren Arena.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide on-site leadership to Skate Patrol/Cashier staff during public skating shifts.
  • Act as the primary contact for staff and patrons during weekend and evening shifts, escalating issues to the Recreation Coordinator as required.
  • Decision-making, conflict resolution, shift coverage, and assisting with staff training.
  • Uphold all safety protocols and customer service standards.
  • Perform duties as outlined in the Skate Patrol/Cashier job description, including customer service, skate patrol, and cash handling.
Key Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in staff supervision and effective leadership; and Skate Patrol/Cashier or similar recreation of customer service role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to resolve conflict and deal firmly with patrons.
  • Ability to ice skate confidently and perform physical duties related to the role.
  • A current Emergency First Aid certificate or willingness to acquire.
  • Complete a satisfactory criminal record check - vulnerable sector.
  • Ability to work irregular hours and workdays, including weekends and evenings.

  • Saturdays & Sundays, 1:30-5:00pm and Wednesdays, 6:45-9:00pm
  • Weekdays, 8:45am - 2:00pm
Wage: $22.00 per hour
Benefits: Additional 15.5% in lieu of benefits and vacation
