
Manager, Catalogue, Specification and Bill of Materials

- Develop, organize, and maintain a materials catalogue integrated with CAD tools.
- Select materials aligned with project specifications and organizational strategies.
- Ensure catalogue content is current and compliant with relevant industry standards and supplier technical specifications.
- Implement version control and update protocols to manage catalogue accuracy.
- Develop and maintain technical specifications for materials, systems, and components used in ship design and construction.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations (e.g., IMO, SOLAS, ABS).
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define new requirements, ensuring alignment with safety and technical standards.
- Maintain accessible, up-to-date technical documentation for stakeholders.
- Create and maintain accurate BOMs from concept through production.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to capture materials and quantities for each project phase.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to support timely sourcing and component availability.
- Apply change management processes to update BOMs in line with design modifications.
- Liaise with procurement, production, and quality teams to ensure seamless flow of material data and specifications.
- Support project managers with material forecasts and technical clarifications.
- Conduct audits to ensure data integrity and compliance with internal standards.
- Provide support and guidance to engineering and design teams on catalogue use and material selection.
- Develop training materials and lead training sessions for new users.
- Gather and implement user feedback to enhance system usability.
- Generate reports on catalogue usage, material consumption, and other key metrics.
- Document processes and procedures related to catalogue and BOM management.
- Continuously review and improve processes to enhance data accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in material and catalogue management.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a CAD environment.
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field.
- Strong understanding of shipbuilding processes.
- Self-directed with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage across all organizational levels.
- Familiarity with vessel systems and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with AVEVA Marine Engineering ERM and AutoCAD is considered an asset.
- Must be eligible to obtain federal security clearance under the Contract Security Program.
