Our Nurses experience exciting assignments in Northern Canada's isolated, semi-isolated, and remote areas. Work closely with diverse Indigenous communities (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) providing care to community members in Canada’s remote Northern communities of British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.The work you will do:
  • Respond to continuing care center and health center’s calls requesting nursing assessments
  • work within the community to develop and modify client care plans based on the assessed needs of the client and their prescribed medical care plans
  • Work within the scope of practice providing healthcare services to adult clients for continuing care- including wound care, chronic disease management, medication administration and conducting health program requirements
  • Consult with Physicians/Nurse Practitioners and the Continuing Care Center and/or Health Center Supervisor of Health Programs
  • Utilize the skills of observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, counseling, and health teaching according to care plan
  • Ensure that, on an ongoing basis, the emotional, spiritual, physical comfort and safety of clients are met to the greatest possible extent within the scope of practice
  • HCN assignments in Nunavut vary from 4 to 6 weeks minimum

QualificationsWho You Are:
  • You are a graduate from an accredited School of Nursing and have a nursing license through the provincial governing body in good standing
  • You have or are willing to obtain a nursing license through the College and Association of Nurses of the NWT and Nunavut (CANNN)
  • You have one (1) year of recent experience (total 1500 hours) working in isolated, semi-isolated, or remote communities or two (2) years of experience (total 3000 hours) performing continuing care, home & community care nursing activities in home & community and/or Continuing Care Centers & Long-Term care setting
  • You are willing to adhere to the policies and procedures under the direction of the Government of Nunavut
  • Mandatory skillsets and additional training requirements and reimbursements will be discussed during the interview
