Animateur Senior (Foundations)Camp Tournesol’s mission is to inspire a lifelong love of the French language by providing an inclusive and engaging camp experience. We aim to welcome children of all backgrounds and French language levels, offering opportunities to grow in confidence and proficiency. Through fun, immersive activities, we help campers build a strong foundation in French while creating unforgettable memories.The Animateur Senior is enthusiastic and enjoys making sure the camp activities are running smoothly. Animateur Senior’s have excellent time management skills and an excellent ability to motivate people.Why join Camp Tournesol Espoir?Monday to Friday work schedule – weekends off!Daytime work hoursCanada Day and Civic Holiday OffFun work environment and culture while working with childrenCareer pathing – get experience working with children in an educational environmentFuture OpportunitiesResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of an Animateur Senior include but are not limited to:Report to the Chef D'Équipe and participate in weekly mentorship sessions to support skill development and career growthOverseeing Moniteurs / Monitrice to ensure the Camp Tournesol curriculum is properly implementedLeading activities in the Foundations program with children between the ages of 4-14 years oldDeveloping activities to help fill programming (if needed)Performing duties of a Moniteur / Monitrice in an emergencyModelling appropriate behaviour and creating positive interactionsAdhering to all Camp Tournesol health and safety and emergency protocols, including WHMIS and hazard checks, and Camp Tournesol policyEngaging parents by providing appropriate and professional feedbackAssisting the Chef d’Équipe with training staff at your locationEnsuring a smooth pick-up and drop-off process at the start and end of each dayEffectively communicating when parents seek assistance about camp or their childrenPurchasing extra camp supplies when approved by the Management TeamMentoring Counsellors-In-Training (CIT) at your locationAdministrative tasks including completing various camp reportsCarrying out reasonable duty requests from members of the Management TeamAttending the mandatory training period for all Animateur SeniorsNote: Candidates applying for any position with Camp Tournesol Espoir Inc. must have a valid certificate in Standard First Aid with CPR-C from a reputable provider of first aid training as recognized by WSIB / WCB / WorkSafe BC, as well as a Police Check in the Vulnerable Sector that was issued no earlier than August 28, 2025.Successful Candidates Should Possess:Must be fully proficient in English and FrenchGraduated from or currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Education at a post-secondary institution (considered an asset, not a requirement)Previous experience working in a leadership capacity is considered an asset, but not requiredKnowledge and understanding of French curriculum programming and related topicsInspirational and creative thinking skillsCustomer service-oriented mindsetTeamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to take initiativeStrong planning and organizational skills with the ability to adapt to changeThe ability to anticipate problems and opportunities, and develop effective solutionsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsMust be able to commute to workplace locationMinimum 18 years of age or older * This position may be funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program.
