- Supervise, lead and coach a team of operators and technicians to foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and excellence.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, expectations and updates
- Identify training needs and facilitate skill development programs to enhance team capabilities and effectiveness
- Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process reliability, product quality, and overall mill performance
- Ensure compliance with product specifications, regulatory requirements, and quality control standards through regular inspections, testing, and process audits.
- Analyze process data, troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, and collaborate with maintenance personnel to ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production output, efficiency, and quality, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed
- Collaborate with the Production Manager and other department leads to optimize production efficiency, minimize downtime, and resolve operational challenges
- Drive initiatives to reduce waste, optimize raw material usage, and improve energy efficiency in alignment with environmental sustainability goals.
- Implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all production activities
- Promote a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies, conducting safety training, and leading incident investigations as necessary
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment or similar heavy industrial setting
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated expertise in process optimization, troubleshooting equipment, and lean manufacturing principles
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve challenging objectives.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with a keen attention to detail
- Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Solid understanding of safety regulations, environmental compliance, and quality management systems.
- Personal Commitment to safety
- Experience in the forestry or manufacturing industry is considered an asset
