- Work closely with our Director, Climate Readiness and Community Recovery and the team to further establish our Community Recovery Management Service offering to new and existing clients across Canada.
- Leverage existing relationships and networks to introduce the Colliers Project Leaders services and offerings to potential clients.
- Attend industry events and represent Colliers Project Leaders within the resilient infrastructure, emergency management, disaster risk reduction, community recovery and project management industries.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to stakeholders, communities and attend conferences across Canada.
- Develop business to business relationships with specialized emergency management and recovery management organizations and firms and provide additional capacity and expertise to clients.
- Further develop your understanding of the various Emergency Management Legislation and Regulations across Canada, the Sendai Framework, community recovery processes, funding programs, Insurers, NGO partners and Government resources, to better serve clients’ needs.
- Lead emergency management preparedness, mitigation and recovery planning with communities, including development of plans, activities and training exercises.
- Lead the assessment of potential hazards, vulnerabilities and risks that could impact communities and critical infrastructure and recommend adaptations to support resiliency.
- Participate in Emergency Operations Center (EOC) / Emergency Coordination Center (ECC) activation for new and existing clients, providing capacity, expertise and leadership to support the transition from response to recovery.
- Be a subject matter expert for our Community Recovery Management Services, undertaking roles such as Recovery Manager, Project Manager, Advisor and other key leadership positions.
- Strong understanding of the Emergency Management Act in Alberta and familiar with other emergency legislation across Canada.
- Strong understanding of the Alberta Emergency Management Agency and the key programs areas within the agency.
- A strong understanding of local governments, how they operate, organizational structures, legislated responsibilities, and the ability to communicate this understanding to senior leadership and elected officials.
- Experience developing and leading municipal programs and services.
- Experience working in and/or with Indigenous communities.
- Experience working in a culturally appropriate and trauma informed and way.
- Practical experience working in a response or recovery organization, dealing with climate related risks and disasters, supporting affected communities.
- Incident Command System trained with demonstrated experience in key organizational roles i.e. Incident Command, Section Chief(s), Division Supervisor.
- A university degree, diploma or certificates in emergency management, climate adaptation, business continuity, project management or other related discipline would be an asset.
- 3 – 5 years of Project Management experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or actively working toward certification would be an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of scheduling (MS Project), word processing (Word) and spreadsheet (Excel) software applications.
