Key responsibilities include meeting financial and operational targets by driving growth and managing costs, ensuring high client satisfaction through fast turnaround times to support revenue growth, and fostering a workplace culture centered on employee engagement, safety, quality, innovation, client retention, and people development.Specific ResponsibilitiesPromote a strong safety culture by communicating/upholding the ALS HSE policies and programsActively support/lead the safety performance management of the business unit, including the achievement of HSE targets (individual targets and business targets)Actively support the quality program mandates, pursue the resolution of all deviations/deficiencies identified through the quality program (e.g., CARs), and foster a culture of continuous improvementSupport the development of the annual operating budgetWork with the broader regional management team to execute company priorities and strategiesMeet or exceed all budgeted financial performance targets including ROS and EBITMaintain a disciplined focus on cost managementDrive the execution of innovation projects supporting brand leadership and competitive advantagesEnsure productivity targets, particularly TAT, are met or exceeded with no compromise to the integrity of safety, quality, and reputationConsistently monitor and adjust staffing resources against actual and forecast workflowActively participate in customer retention and business development campaigns, particularly those relating to the top existing customers and top potential opportunitiesEnsure human resources are effectively managed including recruiting, performance management, employee relations, attendance promotion and staff schedulingMaintain a continuous focus on employee development and cross training with a focus on identifying and growing key talentEmbody the ALS Core Values and foster a workplace culture that consistently reflects these valuesOther duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAn unwavering commitment to employee safetyStrong business acumen, coupled with the ability to interpret financial data, make effective decisions and execute any necessary changesA strong orientation towards service quality, technical innovation, and continuous improvementA history of actively engaging employees, supporting people development and growing key talentAble to effectively manage change in a dynamic environment and balance multiple prioritiesExcellent computer skills including use of MS Office SuiteExcellent English communication skills, both verbal and writtenRequired QualificationsCompletion of a recognized BSc. degree or technical diploma in chemistry or related fieldMinimum of 5 years of management experience in a production environmentFamiliarity with the Canadian environmental industry an assetPhysical DemandsAble to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary tasks.Able to work with a computer screen for up to 8 hours per day.Able to wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.May be exposed to unpleasant odours.Our benefits includesStructured wage increases.Comprehensive benefit package specific to your work status (including extended medical, dental, and vision coverage, access to company perks, life and disability insurance, retirement plan with company match, employee assistance and wellness programs).Additional vacation days for years of service.Business support for education or training after 9 months with the company.Learning & development opportunities (unlimited access to e-learnings and more).Please note: benefits vary based on employee status.Working at ALSThe ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.Our values are important to us, and shape how we work, how we treat each other and how we recognise excellence.At ALS, you’ll be supported to develop new skills and reach your full potential.
