Our mission is to be a trusted choice for our community by delivering a true taste of home through multi-ethnic international delights.Food World Supermarket is seeking an experienced and skilled Chef / Sous Chef specializing in Hakka Chinese cuisine to lead and support the preparation of authentic, high-quality dishes in a fast-paced food retail environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in traditional Hakka-style cooking, wok techniques, sauce preparation, and high-volume production of freshly prepared ready-to-eat and grab-and-go meals.Key ResponsibilitiesMenu Development & PromotionsDevelop and enhance Hakka Chinese menu offerings, including noodles, fried rice, Manchurian dishes, chili specialties, and signature sauces.Design promotional packages, combo meals, family deals, and seasonal specials.Standardize recipes, spice levels, portion sizes, and plating guidelines for consistency and cost control.Analyze customer trends and introduce innovative Indo-Chinese/Hakka dishes to drive salesFood Preparation & ProductionPrepare authentic Hakka Chinese dishes such as Hakka noodles, Manchurian, chili chicken, stir-fries, fried rice, and signature sauces.Demonstrate strong wok skills and control of heat, timing, and seasoning.Ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.Oversee daily mise en place and batch cooking for retail display.Maintain freshness and quality across hot food counters.Kitchen OperationsAssist in managing back-of-house operations.Monitor inventory levels and ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO).Control food costs and minimize waste.Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and handling procedures.Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen.Team Leadership & TrainingSupervise and guide kitchen staff.Train team members in Hakka cooking techniques and recipes.Coordinate workflow during peak service hours.Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.Customer Experience & Quality ControlEnsure food displays are attractive, well-stocked, and appealing.Maintain high standards of quality and service.Support the company’s brand image through consistent product excellence.Qualifications & RequirementsProven experience as a Chef or Sous Chef in Hakka Chinese cuisine.Strong knowledge of Indo-Chinese/Hakka flavor profiles and sauces.Expertise in wok cooking and high-volume kitchen operations.Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced supermarket environment.Strong leadership and communication skills.Culinary certification is an asset.Key CompetenciesStrong wok techniqueTime management and multitaskingAttention to detailTeam leadershipConsistency in flavor and qualityWhy Join Food World Supermarket?One of the largest grocery retail operations (176,000 sq. ft.)Career advancement within a dynamic retail organizationMake a real impact in delivering quality food and service to the community
