- Preparing design documents, requirements, reports, technical specifications, calculations, and contract documents.
- Providing subject matter expert review and acceptance of analysis, design, and specification prepared by consultants.
- Leading the oversight of the structural aspects of the standard design for the technology.
- Leading the subsurface site characterization and evaluation.
- Providing the necessary Civil/Structural Engineering Expert advice and recommendations to the Engineering Manager for decision and guidance.
- Contributing to the development of conceptual, preliminary and detailed design of structures
- Working with design teams in a multidiscipline environment on projects collaboratively to produce design deliverables with the appropriate level of detail.
- Collaborating with internal management and operation staff, and external consultants to ensure high quality, constructible design
- Managing contracts including scope, cost, schedule, and risk.
- Helping Project Manager with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, scope development, and resource allocation.
- Providing technical assistance during construction as a lead design engineer and contract administrator
- Performing technical and economic analysis of alternative solutions for project business cases, and make recommendations on courses of action
- Providing leadership direction to staff, consultants and other external technical agencies as required
- Evaluating existing civil, structural, and architectural design.
- Bachelor's degree in civil or Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineering Designation P.Eng.
- Membership in or eligible for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
- Experienced in a combination of the following engineering tasks: planning facilities, providing technical and specifications, managing contracts, bid evaluations, review and acceptance of technical deliverables and monitoring consultants and contractor performance.
- Previous experience working in nuclear industry would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated competency in structural design codes and engineering/industry standards
- Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and interact with staff at various levels of the organization.
- Use excellent oral and written English communication skills.
- Exercise sound judgment in technical matters, to routinely solve technical problems and to make independent decisions and provide engineering oversight to various sizes of jobs.
- Ability to provide competent leadership, including, coaching and development of technical staff including engineers, engineers-in-training and other resources as required
- Results oriented thinker, with the ability to manage and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
