Join our Bank Technology Team!We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager Engineering/Tech Lead to guide and encourage our dedicated team. As Manager Engineering/Tech Lead, you will have three key areas of responsibility, that of People Leadership, Asset Ownership and Health, and Enabling Delivery.Position Responsibilities:People LeadershipLead a team of technology Engineers, Quality Engineers and IT Business Analysts across complex multi-squad technical, regulatory, or other cross-cutting initiativesLead by example to motivate your team to continuously develop and grow technical and non-technical abilitiesPerformance management including (but not limited to) clear expectation setting, tactical and stretch goal setting, performance evaluations and management of concernsRecruitment and onboarding for technology team members (employee, vendor, etc…)Foster team engagement, drive technical excellence & continuous improvement, and build a high performing teamAsset Ownership and HealthOwn the overall health of your technical asset(s) in its entiretyDevelop, maintain and implement the asset technical roadmaps in alignment with Manulife’s technology strategyHandle and resolve issues and risks as applicablePartner with Product Partner on prioritization; influencing PO to align with Asset Ownership and HealthManagement and governance for technology vendorsProvide squad support to the On-call/Support team(s), providing leadership and acting as the primary point of contact for critical issues to ensure timely and effective resolutionDirect the management and enhancement of observability tools and platforms, ensuring they deliver actionable insights and facilitate proactive incident managementLead performance tuning initiatives by analyzing system performance metrics and logs to identify potential bottlenecks, performance issues, and areas for improvement, driving optimal system efficiency and reliabilityEnabling DeliveryContribute to and ensure progress against important achievementsDevelop, and maintain high-quality software solutions using Azure/AKS, Java/Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Core Spring frameworksImplement REST/Microservices architecture and manage DevOps pipelines using Jenkins, Maven, Snyk, and SonarQubeConduct regular code reviews, providing constructive feedback to enhance team performanceActive participant in planning discussions, providing input on technical solutions, decision making, and directionCollaborate with other engineering managers and Product Partner on interdependent technology workEnsure alignment to industry practices, coding standards, and design patterns to maintain high-quality code.Collaborate to develop patterns and documentation to ensure ongoing maintenance of technical and regulatory solutionsEvaluate and define existing technology standards to ensure compliance with architectural and program-level requirementsPerforming various investigative “Spikes” to mitigate technical uncertainty and riskCollaborate with security teams to address vulnerabilities raised through penetration testing and ensure ongoing security improvementsRequired Qualifications:3+ years experience within a people leadership role of a technology team7+ years experience as a Senior Software Engineer with strong technical capabilitiesStrong experience working in a technical environment, preferably within a financial institution.Ability to manage and lead multiple initiativesSkills in creating program roadmapsExperience working in an agile development environmentResponds well to ambiguity and works efficiently to clarify situations and outcomesAwareness of cloud technology, and experience implementing in cloud infrastructure (Azure preferably)Collaborative attitude, willingness to work with team members; able to coach, participate in code reviews, support or drive design sessionsConstantly learns from both success and failureGood problem-solving skills that enable you to manage through creative abrasionGood verbal and written communication; able to effectively articulate technical vision, possibilities and outcomesPreferred Qualifications:Azure/AKSJava/Spring Boot/Spring Cloud and Core Spring frameworksREST/MicroservicesJenkins, Maven, Snyk, and SonarQube for DevOps pipelinesMobile application developmentWhen you join our team:
