The successful candidate will possess a strong knowledge of provincial employment legislation across the region. The role is ideal for a collaborative leader who fosters positive employee/labour relations, brings a deep understanding of employment laws and HR best practices, and thrives on building high-performing inclusive workplaces.Specific Responsibilities:Provide HR leadership across eastern Canada, ensuring HR practices comply with provincial employment laws and ALS global policiesPartner with leadership to ensure alignment between HR strategies and business objectivesSupport managers and employees with day-to-day HR needs including talent management, employee relations, HR policy and collective agreement interpretation, and employment standards complianceFacilitate performance management and talent assessment programs, coaching managers on feedback, goal-setting and progressive disciplinePartner with managers to execute HR planning, talent assessment & succession planning, and skill development initiativesPromote a positive, inclusive and respectful work culture that reflects ALS valuesManage employee engagement survey implementation and action plan development and implementationCultivate a culture of feedback and agility, adapting quickly to evolving business needsSupport the implementation of HR systems, process improvement and HR reportingCoordinate regional HR communications in English and FrenchIdentify opportunities to streamline HR processes and increase efficiencyLead HR projects for the implementation of the North America HR vision and global strategiesMaintain and report on data from various HR systems providing analysis and recommendationsDevelop and refine HR tools, templates, and communication strategiesWork collaboratively with Talent Acquisition to ensure recruitment of talent to meet current and emerging business needsPromote a positive, inclusive and respectful work culture that reflects ALS valuesObserve established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and proceduresOther duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:In-depth knowledge of employment and labour laws in Eastern CanadaDemonstrated understanding and experience developing HR best practicesExcellent interpersonal, negotiation and stakeholder management skillsProficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft 365, and other AI tools and applicationsProven track record of providing guidance on complex human issuesDemonstrated skills and abilities in coaching, influencing, facilitation, presentation, communication, process development, analysis and problem solvingAbility to effectively handle escalations and time critical issuesDiscretion and sound judgement when handling confidential and sensitive mattersComfortable working with regional teams in office, remote or hybrid environmentsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business or related fieldCPHR or CHRL designation, or equivalentMinimum 5 years of progressive HR experience including 2 years in a leadership or business partner roleFluent in English and FrenchPhysical Demands:Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilitiesAbility to communicate via telephone and email without assistanceAbility to travel up to 20% of the time may be required to support on-site teamsOur benefits include:Comprehensive benefit package specific to your work status (including extended medical, dental, and vision coverage, access to company perks, life and disability insurance, retirement plan with company match, employee assistance and wellness programs)Additional vacation days for years of serviceBusiness support for education or training after 9 months with the companyLearning & development opportunities (unlimited access to e-learnings and more)Please note: Benefits vary based on employee status.Working at ALSThe ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.Our values are important to us, and shape how we work, how we treat each other and how we recognise excellence.At ALS, you’ll be supported to develop new skills and reach your full potential.
