
Controls and Automation Engineer

- Design and program PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and motion controllers
- Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues to minimize downtime
- Integrate new technologies into existing systems to enhance performance
- Conduct system testing and validation to meet safety and compliance standards
- Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends and drive improvements
- Collaborate with IT to ensure secure and efficient system integration
- Lead upgrades and commissioning of control and information systems
- Develop and enforce cybersecurity protocols for control networks
- Train maintenance staff and operators on new systems and best practices
- Partner with cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, and IT
- Support plant utilities optimization (Power, HVAC, Compressed Air, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with electrical and safety standards (CSA, UL, NEC, ANSI)
- Maintain detailed documentation and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, or related field
- 5+ years in automation and controls within manufacturing
- Expertise in PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, VFDs, and motion control systems
- Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure and safety standards
- Experience with system testing, validation, and project execution
- Excellent communication and leadership skills

- Project Management: Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, clear communication, and effective prioritization of tasks.

- Floor Presence: Must maintain a consistent and visible presence on the floor to support team engagement, observe operations firsthand, and provide real-time feedback and guidance.
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 and data historian platforms (e.g., Wonderware, Aspen IP21)
- Programming experience (Python, C, SQL) and database management
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and IT networking (LAN/WLAN)
- Previous leadership in engineering or project management
