- Responsible for the collection and data integrity of a sensitive and confidential data in PeopleSoft used for year end government reporting such as Date of Birth, Social Insurance Number (SIN), SIN expiry, Legal/Preferred Names, Tax Exemptions, Employment Insurance (EI) hours
- Manage a team responsible for Time & Labour data loads, and the timely, accurate Record of Employment (ROE) processing
- Maintenance of data upload templates.
- Establishing and enforcing best practices to maintain data integrity, conducting thorough audits, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Partner with IT and HR Technology to escalate payroll production issues. Acts as a first point of contact troubleshooting system issues.
- Leading the payroll component of software upgrades, new module rollouts, system integrations, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency gains.
- Testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance during system updates, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, user requirements and adherence to Sheridan's core values.
- Identifying and driving process improvements, proactively recommending strategic solutions to enhance system efficiency and streamline payroll operations
- Payroll lead for PeopleSoft system management for Tax Updates, reviewing release notes and identifying impacts to current processes.
- Ensure pay system calculations balance to Government Payroll Deductions Online Calculator (PDOC)
- Developing payroll audit queries to enhance accuracy of earnings and deductions reported including pension and benefit deductions.
- Providing financial reporting, analysis. Analyzing data to uncover trends and insights, advising senior leadership on strategic initiatives and operational improvements based on data analysis.
- Supporting Sheridan community with PeopleSoft payroll expense reporting; and reconciliation to Finance Reporting system (Millennium).
- Preparing information requests for Sheridan government compliance audits
- Supporting Senior Manager with department initiatives and project participation.
- Preparing key documents and schedules for Year End and New Year activities
- Responsible for all T4A processing including vendor, student and non-resident forms. Creating XML (extensible markup language) and has Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) filing responsibility.
- Responsible for year end mass loads for Pension and dental program reporting, partnering with Information Technology ESS team for final manual script preparation and execution.
- Partnering with the Payroll Manager in T4 reporting, specifically with wage loss plan balance transfer analysis and identifying where year end off-cycles are required, the reconciliation Employment Insurance/Canada Pension Plan deductions and the tracking/balancing of all manual year end entries.
- Maintaining Payroll website on Sheridan Central. Performing other duties and projects as assigned by the Senior Manager/Director.
- 4-year bachelors degree or 3-year diploma/degree with a post graduate certificate in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration/Finance or a related field
- Minimum 5-years direct experience with end-to-end payroll processing, from onboarding to retirement including year end processing, ROE reporting (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Must have Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) Designation
- Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) Designation is desired
- Must be proficient with PeopleSoft Query, PeopleSoft HR (Payroll, Time and Labour modules)
- Must have payroll experience in a unionized environment, interpreting collective agreements
- Must have experience calculating/balancing: T4s, Pension Adjustments, CPP/EI
- Must have experience preparing and loading mass data spreadsheets into Time & labour and payline (PeopleSoft)
- Must have experience creating test plans, performing technical testing, using tools like JIRA to track issues/resolutions
- Must have experience with large dataset analysis and making recommendations based on data
- Must have advanced Excel Skills (e.g. pivot tables, formulas, macros)
