- There is so much happening in the world of transit, right here in Toronto. We are looking for talented individuals to be part of a once in a generation transit expansion by working on Toronto’s Subways Extension Program.
- The MCS team is partnering with partnering with Metrolinx to deliver the Subway Extensions program.
- The Subways Extension program comprises two subway extensions. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the Toronto Transit Commission’s (TTC) Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometres further into Scarborough, with three new stations. The Yonge North Subway Extension will extend the TTC’s Line 1 by nearly eight kilometers north from Finch Station to Richmond Hill, with five new stations.
- We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Lead to lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, creative vision, and strong leadership to drive the design maturity, working with a number of stakeholders across Metrolinx and its contractors.
- This position will manage a team of Metrolinx staff, consultants, contractors and stakeholders to deliver design packages to maturity.
- To be responsible for leading and coordinating technical assurance of multiple design packages and physical construction works on large infrastructure projects
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers across multiple workstreams
- Oversee the end-to-end design and engineering process, ensuring alignment with project and broader business goals, timelines, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Drive innovation in design and engineering practices, tools, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Manage project schedules and resource allocation.
- Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and technical evaluations.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent field
- 10+ years of experience in engineering management, potentially inclusive of design management
- Strong understanding of design principles and engineering methodologies
- Project management experience on large scale rapid transit projects
- Experience working with a large team of technical professionals and large-scale contractors
- Demonstrated experience successfully managing the competing objectives of many external and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience managing and influencing a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including municipalities
