
Utility Coordinator

- Coordinate setup, closure, and transition of utility accounts, including account name or rate changes
- Act as liaison between clients, utility vendors, facility management teams, finance teams, and project stakeholders
- Maintain account tracking tools and ensure utility accounts are correctly identified
- Monitor and manage vendor notices and routine communications, including disconnection warnings and account status changes
- Work with the utility payment team and adjust accounts to streamline payments and improve bill cycle time.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for utility-related inquiries from the client and internal BGIS teams
- Proactively triage and manage disconnection events and utility escalations, coordinating rapid resolution with internal teams and vendors
- Coordinate meter appointments, vendor access, and ad hoc data requests
- Ensure proper documentation and communication of all changes in account status or responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of utility-related reports, including usage summaries, cost trends, and GHG outputs
- Support compliance with mandatory reporting programs, helping to compile necessary data and documentation
- Provide information for internal audits, client requests, and project measurement & verification (M&V) needs
- Track and assist in reporting on special initiatives
- Participate in data validation activities during peak workload periods or to support coverage gaps
- Populate and maintain utility validation correction logs
- Flag potential data discrepancies for follow-up by utility analysts or specialists
- Education: Minimum requirement of a college diploma or university degree in a relevant field
- Experience: 1-3 years in a utility billing, energy reporting, or a similar administrative role.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks, manage administrative processes, and coordinate multi-step activities across teams
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical accuracy in reviewing utility data and resolving discrepancies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to clearly articulate utility-related issues and collaborate across stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; quick to learn and adapt to proprietary systems and databases
- Exposure to utility pricing structures, energy units (kWh, m³, GJ), and standard energy reporting practices
- Knowledge of Canadian utility regulations and mandatory reporting requirements (e.g., EWRB) is considered an asset
