- Manage daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
- Understand cost accounting to facilitate interaction with site managers, FP&A Manager and Operation’s Controller.
- Conduct monthly books closing and prepare financial statements. Ensure accuracy of all accounts and support judgmental reserves, timely reconciliation, and use consistent methodologies across the business.
- Ensure that up-to-date IFRS, generally accepted accounting principles and tax requirements (at Federal and Provincial levels) are implemented and adopted by the local team.
- Develop and manage budgets, forecast future performance, and analyze variances.
- Manage tax-related activities; liaise with the Group Tax department and support regional tax authority filings and audits. Strive to limit tax exposures and costs.
- Manage year-end financial audits. Act as lead liaison with external auditors. Improve processes and controls based on their recommendations.
- Make recommendations to Finance leadership to initiate policies, practices and procedures to improve overall control and financial performance.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets, as per Legrand standards and common best practices, and ensure the integrity of financial information.
- Develop a highly trained and empowered finance team that embraces continuous improvement and relentlessly eliminates non-value-added activities.
- Act as the Finance Business Process Owner in the design and implementation of an ERP system as well as cost accounting and general ledger modules.
- Other duties and activities as directed by senior management.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) preferred
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Solid business acumen and understanding of a variety of functional areas within the business
- Excellent problem analysis and problem resolution skills at both a strategic and functional level, and the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions
- Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software. Experience with Power BI and SAP.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Ability to manage staff on a day-to-day basis. Must be able to provide the right balance of guidance/support and autonomy, based on the employee's skill level, knowledge and competencies.
