- Identify, guide, and drive innovation, coordinate change management, and lead successful execution of projects that are transformative to the business, enable organizational growth, and generate process efficiencies.
- Conducts special analyses and projects as directed by the VP, Strategic Finance and other members of Senior finance team.
- Commits to ongoing learning and professional development by participating in training and educational programs as pertaining to this position and the overall credit union.
- Key participant in the design, development, and implementation of best-in-class system- based solutions for Finance activities, performance measurement, and portfolio analysis
- Support the development of business cases for major investment and business decision
- Provide financial analysis and support to cross-functional projects, collaborations and working groups
- Provides leadership within the Finance team
- In partnership with finance leadership, works closely with team members throughout Finance with a view of providing exceptional service to internal members.
- Drives operational efficiencies to maximize resources and enhance productivity.
- Collaborates with the leadership team to ensure the areas of improvement are aligned with the business needs.
- Prepares various external regulatory, compliance reports, financial and statistical reports for government and regulatory agencies such as BCFSA.
- Preparation of working papers for internal and external audit examinations for the credit union and subsidiaries.
- Develops and implements new and revised accounting policies and standards in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Facilitates tax compliance (income tax, GST and PST) and identifying and evaluating tax
- planning opportunities.
- Supports the day-to-day Finance operations
- Conducts general ledger accounts reconciliation and oversight
- Leads specific process improvements in alignment with strategic initiatives and integration projects.
- 5+ years’ progressive experience in accounting
- CPA or equivalent professional accounting designation
- Strong business acumen
- Strong leadership, technical and communication skills
- Equivalent combination of the above may be appropriate
- Project management or system integration experience an asset
- Finance Services experience is considered an asset.
