As a student at PCL, you will get the opportunity for challenging work assignments in a supportive work environment which promotes personal and professional growth.We are seeking Surveying Students for our Toronto district, within our Canadian Buildings Division that are available for 4 month or 8 months starting January 2026.As a Surveying Student and depending on your assigned project, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:Responsibilities
  • Contributes to day-to-day layout and grading tasks
  • Helps monitor quality control in compliance with contract documents
  • Assists in managing surveying for project layout and conformance
  • Marks and labels survey points and record field data according to job specifications
  • Participates in creating and maintaining survey models
  • Understands coordinate systems, scale factors, design requirements and engineered forming systems
  • Assists in creating survey notes and recording field data
Qualifications
  • Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment
  • Understanding basic surveying principles with a practical approach
  • Familiar with construction plans such as structural, architectural and shop drawings
  • Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)
  • Student must be in a recognized drafting, architectural, engineering or construction management program
  • Experience with operating total stations and survey equipment/GPS for layout and as-built purposes
