Once you've had a chance to explore our current open positions, apply to the ones you feel suit you best and keep track of both your progress in the selection process, and new postings that might interest you!Thanks for your interest in working on our team!Duties and ResponsibilitiesTest opto-electronic components and sub systems (small signal analysis NVA/LCA, wideband BER, scope, AWG measurements, noise/distortion loading, DWDM testbed)Write component and sub system specifications and review vendor specificationsWork with vendors on driving product roadmap and specificationsSimulate optical components and systemsDesign and manufacture quality and reliability tests for optical sub-assembliesCoordinate design with optical, mechanical, digital, firmware and software engineers to reach interface and packaging objectivesPerform Design Verification Testing of optical components and modulesPerform reliability tests on optical components and modules (e.g. GR-468)Define the production tests to be performed on products at the contract-manufacturer locationProvide internal input into NPI, manufacturing, quality, Operations and SalesIdentify and mitigate project risksOther projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the CompanyQualificationsBasic QualificationsBS or MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or PhysicsIn-depth knowledge of Optical Communications Theory and Digital Communications TheoryAble to design and develop optical modules and sub-assembliesExpertise in testing optical modules and sub-assemblies and automationProficient in writing technical specificationsKnowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular fieldExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalSelf-motivated and can perform with minimal supervisionRelies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the jobTravel is limited and rare for this positionPreferred QualificationsKnowledgeable of Ethernet standards is preferredKnowledgeable of optical component reliability and telecom performance standards such as Telcordia, IEC, and ITU
