need to advance discovery. From high-performance computing to research software development, our mission is to help SFU researchers work more efficiently, collaborate more effectively, and focus on what matters most—their research. In short, we provide the hardware, software, and expertise researchers need to get the job done.About the RoleThe Systems Architect provides institutional and national leadership in the design, implementation, and evolution of SFU’s advanced research computing (ARC) and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. The role advances SFU’s high-performance computing architecture as an integral component of Canada’s national research computing platform, collaborating with partners across the Digital Research Alliance of Canada and BCNET to deliver a cohesive, scalable, and interoperable environment for researchers. The Systems Architect leads the long-term technology roadmap, designs advanced compute, storage, and interconnect architectures, and ensures system performance, reliability, and compliance with institutional and national objectives. This role integrates deep technical expertise with strategic foresight — linking hardware, middleware, and research software enablement layers to deliver next-generation capabilities in high-performance, accelerated, and data-intensive computing.QualificationsMaster's degree in Computing Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, and eight years of experience in the design and deployment of advanced HPC, AI, or cloud-scale research computing systems; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
