Senior AccountantA Calgary-based organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to support its finance team, reporting to the Operations Controller. This role combines strong technical accounting expertise with forward-looking analysis, focusing on improving financial processes, leveraging technology, and ensuring data integrity. The successful candidate will deliver value‑added insights on business line performance, segmentation, and operational efficiency in a fast‑paced, continuous‑improvement environment. The position also offers a hybrid work model, with three days per week of in‑office collaboration and flexible remote work optionsYour success will be defined by your ability to:

Lead month-end and year-end close, including review of journals, reconciliations, and working papers (IFRS)
Prepare monthly gas cost accruals and ensure transaction accuracy
Support management reporting, dashboards, and variance analysis
Develop financial analysis, trends, and performance metrics for leadership
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and tracking actuals vs. plan
Support performance monitoring and operational/financial planning
Prepare and consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual results
Support external, internal, and tax audits
Monitor and enhance internal controls and identify risk mitigation opportunities
Respond to ad hoc financial requests as needed

Your strengths include:

Bachelor’s degree and CPA designation
3–5 years of accounting experience
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
High attention to detail with strong planning and organizational skills
Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable with ambiguity
Strong communication and collaboration skills across all levels
