We innovate and apply science in order to ensure the safety and integrity of products and services, in line with our vision of science for a safer world.Job DescriptionJob PurposeThe Supervisor, Finished Goods is responsible for leading and coordinating the Finished Goods team to ensure the accurate and timely picking and weighing of products for both sales and production. This role also oversees inventory management and cycle counting activities within the Finished Goods area. The Supervisor will foster a clean, organized, and positive work environment, promoting fairness and a culture of continuous improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain a High Level of Safety, and 5S
  • Identify any potential hazards and ensure all necessary precautions are undertaken.
  • Ensure all team members are trained and performing in a safe and efficient manner using the appropriate PPE when applicable.
  • Ensure proper protocols are followed to avoid risks of cross contamination.
  • Ensure accident/incident investigations are carried out in a timely manner and documented to determine root causes, corrective actions and following-up to ensure completion.
  • Promote proactive identification and elimination of workplace hazards.
  • Correct unsafe acts or conditions, ensuring health & safety policies are followed.
  • Ensure the areas are neat and tidy, with a place for everything and everything in its place.
  • Regularly audit the work and storage areas to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Enforce the compliance of 5S standards and identifies improvement opportunities.
Supervise Finished Goods Personnel
  • Ensure that all team members are treated in an equal and fair manner, abiding by the company Policies & Standards of Conduct.
  • Ensure Finished Goods is adequately staffed to meet business requirements optimizing productivity and asset utilization.
  • Manage vacation schedules.
  • Maintain daily attendance and leave requests.
  • Identify vacancies to Manager, Finished Goods to recruit and hire as required.
  • Participate in the hiring process.
  • Ensure all Team Members have clear expectations and are properly trained, identifying training opportunities and managing the training plan.
  • Ensure staff are operating according to the general SOPs and/or Standardized Work and performing their duties at the expected quality levels and pace.
  • Administer the Performance Evaluation process including setting objectives and expectations, rating performance, doing Performance Reviews and submitting wage increase recommendations.
  • Manage the Performance Improvement Program including:
  • Dealing with issues and providing timely feedback.
  • Coaching and counseling Team Members as appropriate.
  • Maintaining proper notes and documentation of issues and interactions.
  • Escalating issues to Manager, Finished Goods and providing proper information to HR.
Ensure Achievement of Performance Targets and Report Performance
  • Understand Finished Goods safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance goals and how they contribute to enabling Operations objectives to be met.
  • Develop, modify, and manage procedures directly relating to work performed in Finished Goods.
  • Supervise the daily activities of staff by scheduling their work and monitoring timelines to meet daily targets achieve desired goals.
  • Monitor pace of work, backlogs, and Work-In-Process buffers to ensure target turnaround times are met or exceeded.
  • Be aware of any significant equipment, material or information flow issues arising and ensure corrective action plans are initiated and executed.
  • Monitor and report relevant key indicators and develop Action Plans to close gaps.
  • Escalate any potential issues that could negatively impact Finished Goods performance to the Manager, Finished Goods.
  • Communicate delays to appropriate stakeholders such as Customer Service or Synthesis Labs.
  • Track internal and externally generated non-conformances and establish Correction Actions to contain problems and Preventative Actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Coordinate the standardized work in weighing/picking areas to optimize productivity and assign work amongst the team members.
  • Train team members on SOPs and/or Standardized Work, identify training opportunities and manage training plan.
  • Ensure inventory in the system is being updated in a timely manner.
Support and Drive Continuous Improvement (CI)
  • Identify improvement opportunities and participate in establishing the performance metrics and the CI program for Finished Goods.
  • Champion the CI program to the Team.
  • Facilitate implementation of changes in Finished Goods.
  • Sponsor, lead, facilitate or participate in specific CI projects and establishment of Standardized Work.
  • Sponsor, lead, facilitate or participate in Kaizens.
  • Promote a continuous improvement culture.
QualificationsBachelor's degree, preferably in Science, Chemistry, or a related field.Competencies Required
  • 3-5 years' experience working in the chemical industry or lab environment.
  • Experience working with hazardous or toxic compounds.
  • Customer (internal stakeholder) focused.
  • Ability to work with a team and achieve results in a team environment.
  • Self-starter, task oriented with ability to drive and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
