Build and advance your career by joining a team of dedicated professionals who are committed to excellence in support of senators and the institution.How will you contribute?Would you like to apply your expertise in fire prevention and investigation to help protect the Parliamentary Precinct and some of Canada's most iconic heritage buildings?As a Fire Prevention and Investigation Advisor, you will play a strategic role in safeguarding the people, infrastructure, and architectural heritage of the Senate and the Parliamentary Precinct. You will contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a fire prevention program by providing strategic advice and recommendations on fire safety codes and standards, emergency evacuation planning, and proactive risk mitigation.Working closely with internal and external partners, you will influence key decisions related to large-scale technical operations and projects, support organizational preparedness for emergencies, and help ensure the resources are in place to maintain a safe environment.Your work will have a tangible and lasting impact, helping to protect employees, parliamentarians, and visitors, while supporting the continuity of parliamentary operations.If you are motivated to contribute to a national institution and play a meaningful role in protecting places of historical and operational importance, we invite you to apply and join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.Open toGeneral public to staff one (1) full-time indeterminate position in the Corporate Security Directorate.This selection process may be used to staff determinate or indeterminate positions at the same level with similar requirements.The Senate of Canada is committed to building a skilled and diverse workforce that reflects the Canadians we serve, starting with an inclusive and barrier-free hiring process. We promote employment equity and encourage you to indicate if you belong to one of the designated groups when you apply.PrerequisitesPost-secondary education in fire safety, fire prevention, emergency management, or a related field, or an acceptable combination of education, training, and relevant experience;Several years of experience in fire prevention, fire safety, investigations, or a related discipline, ideally within complex, regulated, or high-level operational environments;Strong knowledge of applicable legislation, codes, and standards related to construction and fire prevention, including the National and Ontario Building and Fire Codes, as well as National Fire Protection Association and Underwriters Laboratories of Canada standards;Experience conducting or supporting inspections, investigations, and compliance reviews, as well as preparing detailed reports with findings, analyses, and recommendations;Experience contributing to threat and risk assessments, emergency planning, and the development or testing of evacuation procedures;Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and coordinate projects with internal and external partners, including security, fire, law enforcement, and facilities stakeholders;Sound judgment, discretion, and tact when handling sensitive or high-impact situations:Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly translate technical information for diverse, non-specialized audiences.Linguistic RequirementsEnglish Reading Comprehension: BEnglish Written Expression: BEnglish Oral Interaction: BFrench Reading Comprehension: BFrench Written Expression: BFrench Oral Interaction: BCompetenciesIntegrity
