Explore with us-your journey starts here.What You'll DoReporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer assists with the procurement of goods and services for various departments of the County, including the Library and Social Housing departments. This includes research, tendering and Requests for Proposals and Quotations (RFP & RFQ), negotiating and solving problems arising in the course of acquisition.This temporary vacancy has been created to provide additional staffing for an ongoing organizational project.Contract Duration: 12 monthsWhat We're Looking ForEducation & Experience
  • Two year post-secondary diploma in Purchasing or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • One year of previous experience with purchasing, tendering and analysis
Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering, as well as inventory control of these items
  • Excellent writing skills, including proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain filing systems and databases
  • Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
  • Ability to write and format moderately complex correspondence, including memos and letters
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain lasting working relationships
  • High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment
  • Meticulous records maintenance skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong knowledge of general office procedures involving procurement, travel, and budget management
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Superior telephone manners and strong interpersonal skills
  • Assets: Certified Supply Chain Management Professional designation
