This role is responsible for ensuring our properties remain in top condition, both inside and out. You will work closely with other maintenance team members, our Building Ambassadors and our Support Centre team to ensure all repair and unit renovation work is completed to a high standard, with a focus on upholding our 4 pillars: Safety & Security, Cleanliness, Opportunity and Community.The salary range for this role is $55,000 – $65,000.We take care of our people.Group health benefits plan to keep you healthy and worry-free.Unlimited vacation, and a monthly life day because downtime matters!Flexible work —whatever allows you to be at your best and suits your schedule.Additional perks include allowances for continuing education, family vacation, wellness, fitness, home care and life coach sessions, and continuous professional development.The RoleYou’ll work alongside another maintenance team member, 8-10 Building Ambassadors and a Team Captain, servicing approximately 300 apartment units across 20 buildings.Here are the primary repair and maintenance responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician:Coordinate and complete unit turns (paint, drywall, flooring, countertops, cabinetry, bathroom fixtures etc.) in your regionWork with external vendors & Community Contractors as requiredComplete day-to-day repair and maintenance work based on requests submitted by residents, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact, using our tech platformsComplete common area upgradesRoutine inspection of building envelope and systems to identify and address issues before they become a big problemCommunicate with your team and customers to understand issues, provide updates, and ensure projects are executed on time and with high degree of customer satisfactionWork within the budget for your teamApprove invoices for completed workReview and approve work from vendorsWork with the Support Centre to stay aligned on maintenance priorities and spendingRecruit, train, and support Community Contractors (VIDA residents who complete small-scale maintenance tasks in their own community, building skills while keeping rent affordable).Teach Building Ambassadors the key technical aspects of their buildings (water shut-offs, electrical rooms, etc.) so they can support both residents and contractors effectively.What you need to succeed in this role:Broad skill set and several years of experience relating to building repair & maintenance in a multifamily residential setting, including flooring, painting, drywall repair, basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical skillsAbility to organize and oversee several maintenance and repair projects simultaneouslyFamiliarity with tech platforms and apps and/or ability to learn quicklyHighly responsive on email, group chats, textsStrong communication skills and the ability to work collaborativelyA commitment to providing excellent customer serviceA valid driver's license & reliable transportation that can be used for workHow We OperateDecisions are made close to the work.
