- Timely, proactive communication with drivers and operators on equipment status, plan, and return-to-service timing
- Repair and Maintenance (R&M) costs by division, normalized to production metrics (hours, km, ODMT, m3, etc.)
- Strength of relationships with shops and key vendors (responsiveness, accountability, outcomes)
- Total lifetime cost of ownership by asset class (purchase price or rental cost, insurance, R&M, less sale proceeds)
- Enterprise asset strategy and governance: standards, policies, decision rights, and operating rhythm across divisions
- Equipment planning and deployment: ensure the right equipment, attachments, and tooling are ready for each job—when and where needed
- Safety and compliance: inspection discipline, documentation, certifications, and audit readiness across the fleet and equipment portfolio
- Maintenance excellence: preventative and predictive programs that reduce unplanned downtime and improve availability
- Inspections: schedule and coordinate commercial vehicle inspection programs (e.g., CVIP) and required certifications
- Insurance: manage equipment-specific insurance and claims coordination across the fleet
- Lifecycle economics: annual capital planning, replacement strategy, rebuild vs. replace decisions, disposals, and resale timing to minimize total cost of ownership
- Vendor and OEM management: pricing, service levels, warranty recovery, and performance scorecards
- R&M cost control and reporting: track and improve R&M per production metric by division and asset class; identify outliers and drive fixes with Operations and Shops
- Technology enablement: CMMS and maintenance analytics, telematics/asset tracking, and KPI dashboards
- Yard, shop, and tool control: organization, traceability, storage standards, and small-tool inventory discipline
- People leadership: build capability, coach and develop leaders, and create consistent accountability across sites
- Budgeting and forecasting: support annual budgets and monthly forecasts for maintenance, capex, and utilization performance
- Red Seal Journeyperson (Heavy Duty) is an asset, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10+ years in heavy equipment, fleet, and asset lifecycle leadership (buy/sell, repair/maintenance, costing, utilization)
- 7+ years leading teams in multi-site and/or multi-division environments
- Proven ability to improve uptime and reduce downtime through systems and disciplined execution
- Strong commercial judgment: ROI, replacement planning, rebuild vs. replace, vendor negotiation, and cost control
- Comfortable with data, dashboards, and financial systems; able to translate metrics into action
- Safety-first mindset with strong compliance discipline and documentation standards
- Knowledge of transportation and civil construction industry practices, processes, and the associated equipment needs
- Strong written and verbal communication; able to influence across Operations, Finance, and external vendors
- Self-directed, results-oriented, and highly organized
- Valid driver's license and a clean driver's abstract
