
Director Health and Safety

Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute the mill-wide health and safety strategy in alignment with business and legal requirements.
- Maintain compliance with OHSA, WSIB, Ministry of Labour, and industry standards.
- Oversee and lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Drive proactive programs such as risk assessments, behavior-based safety, and near-miss reporting.
- Promote safety ownership through training, coaching, leadership visibility, and employee involvement.
- Track, analyze, and report safety performance indicators to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal departments including operations, maintenance, HR, and environment to embed safety into all processes.
- Lead Emergency Response and Preparedness planning and training.
- Build and mentor a team of safety professionals and future leaders.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation or equivalent is preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in industrial health and safety, ideally in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing health and safety at a large-scale site (300+ employees).
- Strong command of Ontario safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Skilled in continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive, adaptable, and capable of driving change in a dynamic environment.
- Base salary as from $160,000 CAD depending on the candidate's experience.
