- Recruit, screen, onboard volunteers to appropriately engage with newcomers around their effective settlement
- Assess client needs and interests to inform the development of meaningful volunteer-led programs and services
- Develop on-boarding and training materials that support the success and effectiveness of volunteers and volunteer activities
- Maintain volunteer records and databases, ensuring accurate tracking of hours, roles, and performance
- Coordinate volunteer communications and schedule and assign volunteers to appropriate tasks based on skills, availability, and program needs
- Serve as the main point of contact for volunteers, providing support, guidance, and feedback as appropriate
- Plan and implement formal and informal volunteer recognition activities to recognize the contribution of volunteers to the organization
- Identify, develop, and lead new programming and activities that are volunteer led at YMCA Immigrant Services
- Attend community events, networking functions, and volunteer recruiting fairs to promote opportunities and expand outreach
- Prepare timely and accurate narrative and data reports to highlight program achievements, compliance, performance metrics
- Evaluate volunteer program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with all YMCA Settlement Program areas to understand and support volunteer needs and align volunteer efforts with departmental goals
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies (i.e. child safeguarding), procedures, and mandates related to volunteer engagement
- Relevant education and/or a combination of training and experience in program management, human services, community development, or a related field
- 2–3 years of experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, or program coordination
- Experience working in a cross-cultural environment, ideally with newcomer or marginalized communities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate volunteers from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to assess newcomer client needs and interests and translate them into effective volunteer-led programming
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community partners
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in volunteer engagement and service delivery
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, professional, data-driven program reports
- Demonstrated ability to develop training materials and resource documents for volunteers and staff
- Experience facilitating both large and small group sessions or workshops
- Strong networking, community outreach, and rapport-building skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams, and Zoom, with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies
- Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential information
- Schedule flexibility to accommodate evening or weekend events as needed
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and clear Child Abuse Register Check (no less than 6 months old), if 18 years of age or older
- Attend Child Safeguarding Training upon hire
