
Mental Health and Addictions Nurse

- Regulated health care professional holding current registration with a regulated college in Ontario; appropriate university degree or a suitable combination of education and direct experience.
- Current registration as an RN/BScN in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- 2+ years of recent experience in community health or a related field
- Sound knowledge of the Ontario health care system; the role of Care Coordinator as assessor and health planner, all relevant legislation and available local community resources
- Solid ability to use MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) and internet research skills and computer navigation
- Ability to analyze information, problem-solve and make good decisions
- Accountable for own actions and decisions, making decisions within the scope of the position and referring issues/problems/events to the manager as required
- Solid documentation skills (clear, thorough, accurate and timely)
- Self-directed with the ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task
- Flexible, adaptable and responsive to change
- Detail oriented
- Effective interpersonal and communications skills and able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences of all ages and backgrounds
- Able to lead and facilitate community education sessions
- Courteous and respectful in all interactions
- Ability to establish and maintain a wide range of contacts with professionals and organizations within the community
- Solid effective listening and facilitation skills
- Ability to maintain confidential information

- Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable motor vehicle with appropriate business class liability insurance as travel will be required within the Erie St. Clair region.
- Membership, in good standing, with the applicable regulatory body:
- College of Nurses of Ontario
- 2-3 years of experience in providing direct clinical mental health and/or addictions services Required, with children and youth preferred
- Knowledge of the health care delivery system and community resources
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Effective time management, prioritization and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and co-operatively in a busy multidisciplinary environment
- Established ability to accurately complete required documentation, reports and forms
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Proficient in a Windows environment
