- Assist the Design team in preparing the Design Management Plan.
- Follow the Design Management Plan, ensuring that noncompliance issues are identified and presented to the Design Manager.
- Provide input to planning activities included in the project schedule.
- Ensure design is minimally compliant, cost-effective, and constructible, and engage other team members as necessary to support this effort.
- Coordinate with the Construction team to ensure that design information is delivered in a timely manner to support construction.
- Monitor that the Construction team is maintaining compliance and contractual obligations identified in the design documents and notify the Design Manager and Construction Manager of any variances or identified risks.
- Administer the clash-detection process for Design.
- Review the design documents to ensure quality, notifying the Design team of any variances
- Collaborate with the Construction team and all other internal stakeholders as necessary to complete the work.
- Ensure design policies and procedures are followed.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of policies and procedures.
- Assist the Quality Manager in developing the design quality control plan.
- Support the Design Manager / Specialists in ensuring the Design team is compliant with the quality control plan.
- Demonstrate understanding of the contractual obligations and administer that knowledge in the review process by identifying changes and escalating as appropriate for the Design Manager to administer the changes.
- Manage the schedule related to the deliverables, ensuring they meet the Construction team’s schedule needs, and delegate as required.
- Assist the Design team in gathering the data required for input into monthly status reports.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, Design team, and other stakeholders that reflect and support Graham’s core values.
- Organize client stakeholder meetings and provide all advance materials.
- Support Design Manager in responding to client design comment logs.
- Completion of a degree program in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management is an asset.
- 3+ years of experience working within a Design or Construction Management environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience working for a design builder on design-build procurement methods is an asset.
- Ability to assess clients and make appropriate decisions.
- Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and BIM software tools (Navisworks 3D and 4D, REVIT).
