An opening now exists with a well established Architecture firm, for a qualified Architectural Specification Writer. Their focus is primarily on large commercial, public, mixed use and multi-family projects and they have a reputation for excellence within the industry.THE JOB
Reporting to one of the principals, the firm’s Specification Writer will interpret architectural and interior design plans and prepare material lists and specifications to be used as standards by contractors related to building construction activities. You will be aware of the products on the market, assisting in maintaining and developing the firm’s library of catalogs and other information for the designers and architects to use. In addition to preparing project manuals and writing technical descriptions and specifications, you will review contracts and legal specifications and ensure that documents are ready for printing, signing, sealing and distribution. You will work collaboratively with project teams and the firm's stakeholders to ensure specifications are coherent with project requirements.WHAT’S REQUIRED
Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in architecture, architectural technology or another construction-related field, with at least 4+ years of experience in the industry doing specification writing. Computer skills that are essential include Word and Excel and knowledge or familiarity with Revit is also preferred. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills as you will working with contractors, clients and medium size team. Prior experience with public clients and their projects is a plus. Being a registered specifications writer would be a real asset.WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN
