Posted on: Aug 21, 2025Posted by: Starland CountySummaryStarland County is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as either a Heavy-Duty Technician who would apprentice as a Welder or a Welder who would apprentice as a Heavy-Duty Technician to play an important role in maintaining and supporting equipment and infrastructure. The successful candidate must be able to analyze, troubleshoot, dismantle, align, assemble and adjust mechanical equipment and machinery to maintain it in efficient operating condition as well as perform welding and fabrication tasks to support operations.The successful applicant will be required to work 40 to 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based on the time of year. The salary range for this position is $71,000 – $101,500.   • Constructs, installs and repairs equipment and machinery
  • Diagnoses equipment/vehicles problems and determines repairs needed
  • Repairs overhauls, maintains, and services diesel and gas powered vehicles, heavy trucks, heavy construction equipment, graders, dump trucks and excavators
  • Perform mechanical repairs on vehicles and equipment in the shop and road calls when required
  • Perform welding, fabrication duties, including cutting, fitting, and assembling metal components for equipment, vehicles and municipal infrastructure
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation and accurate completion of work orders
RequirementsThe successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a heavy-duty technician or welding and have the ability to complete Commercial Vehicle Inspections. They must be physically capable of working in confined and awkward spaces as well effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Knowledge in inventory control and inventory systems for parts management is considered an asset.In accordance with our Substance Abuse Prevention Policy, pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required prior to commencing employment.
