- Operate wheel loaders to move, load, and stockpile aggregates in a safe and efficient manner.
- Supply material to washplant, and other processing equipment.
- Load customer trucks accurately while following weight, quality, and safety guidelines.
- Perform pre-operational and post-operational inspections of equipment.
- Monitor material quality and communicate concerns to the supervisor.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, including stockpile management and yard housekeeping.
- Conduct routine maintenance on washplant, conveyors, loaders and other pit equipment (greasing, fluid checks, belt adjustments, etc.).
- Assist with troubleshooting and minor repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Support washplant shutdowns, rebuilds, and seasonal maintenance activities.
- Report equipment issues promptly and assist mechanics as needed.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and inspection records.
- Follow all company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with site improvements, including grading, drainage, road upkeep, and environmental compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth pit operations.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in an aggregates or construction environment.
- Experience with wheel loaders required; additional equipment experience considered an asset.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort performing routine maintenance tasks.
- Strong safety mindset with knowledge of pit/quarry safety regulations.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks.
- Experience in aggregates, mining or construction industries preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude; ability to use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
- Welding experience an asset
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and handle physically demanding tasks
- Valid class 5 driver's license and own reliable transportation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent hand/eye coordination
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Flexibility in work schedule (early mornings, days, evenings)
- Outdoor, physically active work environment in an operational aggregate pit.
- Exposure to dust, noise, equipment movement, and weather conditions.
- Use of required PPE at all times.
