- Perform repairs and maintenance on industrial production and processing equipment, replacing malfunctioning parts as needed.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance, completing work orders and documenting results in the CMMS system.
- Install, program, and repair automated machinery, including robots and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Troubleshoot automation systems and support system recovery to minimize downtime.
- Assist operations personnel with understanding equipment functions and ensure compliance with Lock Out / Tag Out procedures.
- Disassemble and shut down machinery when required for repair or maintenance.
- Participate in root cause analysis and provide clear, factual communication on failures, along with recommended corrective actions.
- Collaborate with reliability engineers to drive continuous process and performance improvements.
- Ensure all production equipment is maintained to maximize uptime, efficiency, yield, and throughput.
- Mentor and support team members to promote knowledge sharing and achieve departmental goals.
- Adhere to NSG/Pilkington’s Standards of Business Conduct and uphold company values and principles.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

- A Certificate of Qualification as a Millwright (443A) and relevant industrial experience.
- Minimum 3 years experience on repair and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and automated assembly applications in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Industrial Electricity: Proficient in AC/DC motor controls, switchgear, inverters, PLCs (ladder logic and programming), control circuits, and the use of electrical test equipment.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to read, interpret, and fabricate from mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Automation Systems: Experience installing, programming, and repairing automated machinery and equipment, including robots and PLC-controlled systems.
- Welding and Cutting: Skills in stick, MIG, torch, shielded arc, oxy-acetylene, and plasma cutting (not required but considered an asset).
- Shop Skills: Proficient with layout, drilling, tapping, and the operation of lathes, milling machines, bandsaws, circular saws, and hand tools.
- Precision Instrumentation: Familiarity with micrometers, calipers, rulers/scales, taper gauges, and other measurement tools.
- Basic Machine Principles: Understanding of threads, fasteners, tolerances, fits, materials, and lubricants.
- Millwright Skills: Knowledge of chains, sprockets, bearings, pneumatics, and general mechanical systems.
- Diagnostic Abilities: Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical failures using systematic and efficient methods.
- Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities are essential.
- TPM Knowledge: Understanding of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles is highly desirable.
