This is a pivotal role dedicated to the modernization and continuous improvement of our extensive in-house application portfolio. You will be responsible for defining, sequencing, and executing modernization initiatives that improve delivery speed, technical sustainability, and developer effectiveness across a complex enterprise landscape.The Ideal Candidate will bring a strong balance of technical depth, execution discipline, and pragmatic leadership. You are comfortable translating high-level opportunities into clearly scoped initiatives and ensuring outcomes are understood at both technical and executive levels. You thrive in environments where modernization must be delivered alongside ongoing business priorities, and where clarity, focus, and follow-through are critical to success.Key Responsibilities:Strategy & Roadmap: Own and maintain a clear application modernization roadmap, translating key business outcomes into prioritized, executable initiatives.Project Leadership: Lead modernization and continuous improvement initiatives from initial concept through final delivery.People Management: Directly manage and mentor software developers, supporting performance, career growth, and day-to-day delivery while reinforcing modern development practices.Team Enablement: Build a collaborative environment where developers can successfully modernize legacy systems through coaching, established standards, and practical enablement.Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner closely with application architecture, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure initiatives align with established technical direction and standards.Stakeholder Management: Provide clarity on scope, costs, dependencies, and trade-offs to ensure informed decision-making and sustained executive alignment.Innovation Control: Ensure proof-of-concepts and exploratory efforts either progress into production-ready solutions or are explicitly concluded with clear rationale.Metrics & Reporting: Measure and communicate progress against modernization objectives, including delivery efficiency and the reduction of technical debt.Qualifications:A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Demonstrated experience leading complex technical initiatives from planning through execution within an Agile delivery environment.Proven experience leading a team with direct reports, including coaching, prioritization, and accountability.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the skill to simplify complex technical topics for diverse audiences.Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.Technical Experience:Strong understanding of common modernization patterns and strategies for managing technical debt.Hands-on familiarity with CI/CD and engineering practices that improve developer throughput and quality.Working knowledge of cloud and container platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes) and deployment concepts.Experience with integration approaches across enterprise systems and data access considerations.Understanding of observability, production readiness, and Secure SDLC practices.Familiarity with common enterprise technologies such as Java, Spring, JavaScript, SQL , and related frameworks.Compensation & Benefits:Our client provides an excellent compensation package, including a competitive salary, a comprehensive pension plan, a flexible benefits package, and significant opportunities for ongoing training and career development.To Apply:If you are interested in this opportunity, please forward your resume (in Word format) directly to Mario Tomberli, Director o Recruitment - IT and Engineering at , referencing “Manager of Application Development" in the subject line of your email To view other
